Ara Wines is a New Zealand single estate wine company with a focus on delivering fine Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris, the varietals that New Zealand is renowned for. Ara Wines is enjoying strong growth, with distribution throughout New Zealand and key wine export markets - Australia, Canada, Europe, the United Kingdom and the United States.

Pure Single Estate Wine

All Ara wines come from a single, sustainably managed vineyard, delivering pure fruit expression with texture, elegance and refinement. The result is an intriguing Marlborough experience.

Ara’s single estate lies at the elevated end of the Wairau Valley in Marlborough on a flat terrace where the Wairau and Waihopai Rivers meet, lifted above the rest of the valley by the Wairau Fault. The vineyard is bordered by rivers on three sides, while the long western edge eases into the foothills of the Southern Alps. Ara Wines benefit from climatic conditions that have made the region’s wines world famous, plus some special advantages that relate to soil type and higher altitude.

100% Certified Sustainable Winegrowing

All winegrowing activities at Ara are fully sustainable. Ara Wines is a member of Sustainable Winegrowing NZ, an initiative of the NZ Winegrowers Association, where vineyards follow strict management principles to protect the environment.

This commitment to environmental responsibility is demonstrated in a number of other programmes including replanting native species and avoiding chemically-treated timber. Ara is also actively involved in resettling the rare native New Zealand falcon. In 2004, Ara joined the Department of Conservation's native falcon recovery programme and established a breeding pair of falcons in a secluded corner of the vineyard.
